During the seminar, students are grouped in teams, each team prepares a bioinformatics topic and creates a written summary report (expose) and presentation.

Learning Objectives

• Gain knowledge about essential bioinformatics subfields, tools and methods
• Understanding of bioinformatics tools and their approaches and methods
• Key steps in the methods and their applications
• Basic bioinformatics literacy – get an idea what tools there are and what they can be used for
• Learn how to do literature research
• How to read, understand and critically interpret a publication
• Prepare a summary (written and orally) of a scientific topic

• Friday, April 24, 9:00-11:00, C_FunGene, Seminar Room: Introduction and Assignment of Topics
• Wednesday, May 6 (Zoom): General discussion of progress, breakouts with supervisors
• Wednesday, May 20 (Zoom): Discussion of presentations with supervisors
• May 31, midnight: Deadline for submission of draft written reports
• June 7: Written Feedback from supervisors
• June 22 and June 23, 12 am – 5 pm, C_FunGene: Oral presentations
• June 30: Deadline for submission of final written expose.
